I don't necessarily like this picture, but I like the colors.
Dad trying not to be too nervous at the pre-race dinner.
Look at those two tired little stinkers!
A couple of things
A. Trenton licked a guys bum at church today
B. Yesterday we got back from the Spudman. Let's just say that it was an interesting experience...Actually it was really fun, but there were a few issues we had to deal with.
So I wasn't registered to participate, but I decided to go up with my parents so Layne could study for finals and help turn it into a party :) Kelsey had registered but wasn't going to race, so I thought that maybe I'd just bring my bike up on the slightest, teeniest chance that I might be able to race. I didn't want to be dishonest, but I thought somehow it might work out-you never know. We get up to Burley and my dad asks if there is any way I could take my sisters place in the race, without really any hestitation they said I could and changed my age group and everything (although they didn't change my name). Now I had to scramble and make sure that I had all of the gear to participate. I had everything I needed except a bike helmet and a wetsuit. I could live without a wetsuit and forgetting a bike helmet was nothing that a little trip to Walmart couldn't fix. Let me interject here that I wasn't totally prepared physically for the race either. I had run a race on Monday and had done mile repeats the day before. Not exactly the ideal conditions for racing, but what the heck, it would be fun. Well, we got back from Walmart pretty late, Trenton had fallen asleep in the car, so we quickly pitched our tents in what seemed like a good spot. I got everything situated and carefully took Trenton out of his carseat and put him in the tent. He lay still for about five minutes and then decided that he did NOT want to go to bed, this was way too much fun. He started climbing all over the tent, pulling out all of his wipes, climbing on top of my back and laughing, trying to pull down the walls of the tent ect. ect. ect. It was really cute...at first. However I was REALLY tired and after about an hour of this (and listening to Luke sing Jingle Bells :) ) I decided to get his carseat and strap him in it. He got really mad about this and started being loud and fussy, so finally I decided to go for a little drive with him (we won't mention that I forgot to put the tailgate up and there was food and stuff on it). He eventually fell asleep and I drove back to camp and put him in the tent in his carseat. Not a half an hour later, we awoke to the sound of sprinklers, two seconds later Trenton and I were totally drenched. He was NOT happy. Even more mad than before. There was no consoling this little dude so I got back in the truck and tried to calm him in any way I could think of. There was no other option but to go for another drive. After a few minutes he fell asleep again. I headed back to camp and a few seconds before my camp sight I looked in my rear view mirror and happened to see flashing lights. Are you KIDDING ME? I was going like 5 miles an hour so I had NO IDEA why I was getting pulled over. The officer then told me it was because my headlight was out, but he didn't leave it at that. He started interrogating me about what I was doing there (HELLO, what was EVERYONE doing there that weekend). He asked me about where I put my bike and if they ever get stolen, all of this random stuff and it's the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!! Finally he asked for my license and then called it in and let me go. I went over to the tent to see if there was any possible way it was sleepable and it was totally drenched, so I slept across the front bench of the truck while Trenty slept in his carseat. (My hip is sore from the seatbelt digging into it.) Needless to say I didn't get much sleep. The race was really fun though. I was very happy with how I did. The swim and bike were faster than my other years, but the run was quite a bit slower. I forgot my waterbottle on my bike (duh) and really bonked the last couple of miles. Oh well, overall it was my best spudman time ever and it was fun to do it spur of the moment!
The great thing about the race was how well my dad did. He really prepared for this race and did a ton better than last year. I was very impressed.
C. I'm really frustrated with myself and all of this racing stuff. I do too much so I really don't have a chance to train very specifically for races. It's like I'm always pretty good, but never great. I know that if I would have prepared for the Spudman I really could have done a lot better, the same with my 10k on Monday (it was my longest run since the marathon). Anyway, enough with my rambling.
D. Layne graduates from college this week!!! WAHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! (That means 3 weeks until we move to cali)

Oh I wish that I could have come! sounds like you had an adventure too jami! I miss trenty bobs
Crazy story Jami! At least you still had fun--despite all the bad luck. Yeah for graduation this week!!!! Way to go Lemon!!
Sounds like an interesting trip! I'd like to know more about Trenton's ordeal at church too! :) That is so exciting that Layne is graduating soon!!
Same here Brendi!:-) Great going Jami. That's right your dad did it too. Good for him!
I play the piano in primary so I didn't witness Trenton licking someones behind, but my mom did, so I'll let her explain it!!!
That's so cute what trenton does ! He is getting so big.
Trenty, Luke and I had fun spectating the race. About Trenton in church.. We were in just chairs and he lifted himself up kind of and started licking the guys rear in front of us. I looked at Layne and his eyes kind of bugged out and he grabbed Trenton away. The prayer was said right after. Oh my word!! I was laughing hyserically (silent but shaking)during the prayer (I know that's not very reverent but I couldn't help it). There was no way I could look at Layne after the prayer cause I knew if he smiled or something I would have lost ALL control and would have had to leave.
What a crazy night! I'm impressed you still ran the race. I think I would have opted for an immediate drive home and a nap, especially after being pulled over! Congrats to Layne, do you have a place in California yet?
thats hilarious!!
You rock. :)
How in the heck did Trenty lick a guys' bum?
I can't wait for you guys to get here! :)
Another person's joy is this person's sadness. I am happy that you get to be in California having great experiences and being close to the Montez fam, but we are going to miss you. Loved your Spudman saga--those stories are always more humorous after the fact, right? Look forward to seeing you this weekend.
Maybe that guy in church sat in something sweet and Trenton zeroed in on it!
MOM!!
